About the Source Edition (GSE) category

The Greenbone Source Edition (GSE) covers the actual source codes of the Greenbone application stack
for vulnerability scanning and vulnerability management.

It is available as regularly updated source code snapshots/releases archives confirmed to work and as source codes directly from the source code management (SCM) system. The latter is not recommended for production scenarios as the code is being worked on on a daily basis and might reveal issues and incomplete features.

The source edition is adopted by some third parties. We call the open and non-commercial ones “3rd-party integrations”. We call the solution-oriented and commercial ones “uncoordinated integrations” because there is no explicit contractual arrangement and especially no service level agreement with
Greenbone. All of the adoptions can use the GCF, but none can use the GSF (see Feed Services).

This category is about discussing any issue with building from source code and using source code based setups. Please always indicate version/origin of the sources and name the platform on which you built it.

However, any problems related to uncoordinated integrations are not subject of this category and rather
should be reported to the respective third party.
