New Install: Fail on PostGreSQL-Server-Dev-11 Install

No luck searching forums or Google. I am following the GreenBone install guide here. I am using the Ubuntu Server LTS distro 20.04.02. On step 22 - (dependencies for gvmd), I am getting an error that postgresql-server-dev-11 is not available.
I have tried the alternatives ‘postgresql-server-dev’, ‘postgresql-server-11’, and ‘postgresql-11’ without success.

Another article I read said use version 11 instead of 12 due to performance problems. Any advice appreciated.

Woof.

Hi,

the official build guide uses Debian Buster because that’s our current reference system at Greenbone. The different Ubuntu releases ship with a never version of postgresql. For 20.04 it is postgresql 12. Therefore you need to adapt the installation to use the postgresql-server-dev-12 package (https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/postgresql-server-dev-12).

You just need to disable the JIT Engine than Version 12 and 13 will run fine. Postgres activated the JIT Engine without any warning in newer versions.

You could also add the postgresql apt repos for your distro (I think 20.04 is “focal” ?? ) and install what ever postresql version you like:

Thank you, moving forward with version 12 and disabling the JIT Engine.
