I have been facing the same issue on an installation from sources on Debian-9. Unfortunately I have not been able to further investigate and was hoping to find a solution for it here.
Have you tried our community edition ? For everything else we can only give very limited support here

No worries at all, I just wondered if I did something “different” that made this 
I’ll try to debug it some more, and perhaps put a low priority issue on gvmd at github.
The other day we passed 1k assets with results, so I must fix our api script that removes empty assets 
And It’s always nice to see a community that can discuss a problem without starting a rage match

It seems there was indeed some issues with dead hosts being added to the asset database for sensor scans. Looks like this is now fixed with:
