Scan configuration: expand_vhost

Hello everyone,
I am trying to configure a personalized scan, I cloned a discovery default scan but I would like to know the impact of changing the “expand_vhost” numeric default value. Its default value is 1.
How can I disable it and what is the impact of increasing this numeric value?
