As an alternative you can also build the component with the -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RELEASE target like e.g.:

cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/opt/gvm -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RELEASE
